Who We Are

Wise Lama is an organisation dedicated to supporting the development of organisations and communities through contemplative learning, evidence-informed programs and applied human development.

We integrate contemplative traditions, interdisciplinary knowledge and practical experience to design learning processes adaptable across educational, organisational and community contexts.

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we work closely with each context to understand its strengths and challenges. Our role is not to transform from the outside, but to create the conditions for meaningful learning, stronger relationships and sustainable change to emerge from within.

Wise Lama supports communities by:

Training

We support educators, professionals and communities in developing the knowledge, skills and human capacities needed to navigate today’s challenges with clarity and responsibility. Through learning experiences that combine contemplative practice and experiential methodologies, we help people not only understand these principles, but also bring them into their everyday lives.

Nurturing

We believe that meaningful learning happens in environments where people feel safe, seen and valued. Our work nurtures a culture of openness, compassion and mutual understanding, supporting the development of emotional resilience, ethical awareness and the ability to relate to others with care and respect.

Supporting

Every organisation, school and community is unique. We work alongside each one, listening carefully and building relationships of trust, to co-create learning processes that respond to their real needs and aspirations. Our aim is to support lasting shifts in attitudes and behaviours that strengthen connection and collective wellbeing.

Sharing

We make accessible programmes, resources and practical tools that can be integrated into existing systems and everyday practice. Our focus is on enabling continuity, so that learning does not remain within isolated experiences but becomes part of how individuals and organisations think, relate and act over time.

Our Mission

Our mission is to design learning experiences that support organisations and communities in developing the knowledge, skills and human capacities needed to respond wisely to the challenges of our time.
We integrate contemplative learning, scientific research and applied practice to cultivate more conscious ways of relating and acting, strengthening how we inhabit the world with compassion, shared responsibility and emotional resilience.

Our Vision

We envision a future where education, organisations and communities recognise that meaningful and lasting change begins with the development of human capacities. A future where compassion, wisdom and ethical responsibility are recognised not as optional qualities, but as essential capacities for shaping relationships, strengthening institutions and sustaining the systems we depend on.

Our Values

Our values guide how we design learning, how we relate to others and how we understand our role in contributing to meaningful change.

Compassion

Compassion is not simply an emotional response, but a cultivated capacity to recognise our shared humanity and respond to suffering with clarity, care and responsibility. It involves understanding the conditions that shape our own experience and that of others, and developing the intention and ability to contribute to their wellbeing.

Coherence

We seek to align what we teach with how we work. This involves acting with honesty and transparency, while remaining open to learning and improvement.

Responsibility

We recognise that our actions are part of larger systems of interdependence. Responsibility involves understanding the consequences of our choices and acting with awareness of how they affect others, our communities and the environments we are part of.

Learning

We approach learning as an ongoing process of inquiry, reflection and transformation. We remain open to new perspectives, grounded in experience and committed to continuous development at both individual and collective levels.

Our Philosophy

The challenges of our time are not only economic, political or environmental—they are also profoundly human. Across the world, we face growing pressures, from climate change and inequality to social fragmentation and the erosion of trust. Yet these challenges are not only external; they reflect the way we relate to ourselves, to one another and to the living systems of which we are part. More knowledge, technology and information alone will not be enough to address them.

What remains missing is our capacity to relate wisely: to navigate complexity with care, to act with a sense of shared responsibility and to recognise our fundamental interdependence. Many of the systems shaping contemporary life reflect this way of relating, often rewarding greed, self-interest and the pursuit of immediate gratification while weakening self-regulation, trust, belonging and our commitment to the common good.

If this is the nature of the challenge, then learning cannot be limited to the transmission of knowledge. It must also transform how we think, how we relate and how we act, cultivating the human capacities needed to respond wisely to an increasingly complex world. For this reason, our work focuses on creating the conditions for change rather than prescribing solutions. Every individual, organisation and community carries its own history, culture and context, and we support people in exploring, reflecting and discovering responses that are meaningful within their own lives and communities.

We bring together contemplative traditions, scientific research and practical experience—not as competing perspectives, but as complementary ways of understanding what it means to flourish. At the centre of our work lies a simple but fundamental question:

Who do we need to become to create the world we aspire to live in?

We believe that every society, organisation and community is ultimately shaped by the quality of its relationships. The way we relate to ourselves shapes how we relate to others, and the way we relate to others shapes the systems we create. Ultimately, the future will not be shaped only by what we know, but by who we become.
